Mexican manufacturing clusters by region. Suppliers, materials, skilled workers, and logistics for an industry tend to concentrate in the same few places, so knowing where to look can save weeks. This guide covers the main industrial regions and what each is known for, with live lists from our index.

None of this is a rule. Good manufacturers exist in every state. Use it as a place to start.

How to choose a region

  • Start with your industry. Go where suppliers for your process and material are densest; you'll have more choice and more competitive quotes.
  • Consider your U.S. destination. Baja California suits the West Coast, Chihuahua and Juárez the Southwest, Nuevo León and Coahuila Texas and the central U.S.
  • Don't rule out the interior. Plants in the Bajío and central Mexico ship north every day by truck and rail.
  • Think about visits. If you'll visit often, being near a major airport with direct U.S. flights helps.
